An Explanation of our Available Leather options
“Latigo” or “Latigo Leather”
Available in Black, Brown, Tan, and Natural Vegetable
This leather is our most popular leather option. It is an unstitched strap that has a durable thickness and timeless look. Complemented by the simple elegance of an unstitched strap. It starts somewhat stiff but “breaks-in” to become a soft and supple leather.
“NL” or “Glazed Calf Leather”
Available in Many Bright Colors
Available in a rainbow of bright colors, NL leather is fine top grain calf leather and is what comes to mind when one thinks of high quality leather. This leather is backed with a lining leather to make it stronger and give it some rigidity. This leather is stitched along the edges with a complementing thread color.
“WY” or “Wyoming Leather”
Available in Many Bright and Subtle Colors
The most noticeable detail of our WY leather is the pronounced and distinctive grain. Some, but not all, of our colors with this leather type are a bit more subtle than their NL counterparts. WY leathers are backed with a leather lining and stitched along the edges with a complementing thread color.
“SH” or “Old Fashioned Calf”
Available in Several Subtle Colors
This leather is initially stiffer than either NL or WY leather types. The leather is also inherently slightly thicker. With a slight gloss and a visible grain, this leather is an excellent middle ground of durability and colorful fun. SH Leathers are backed with a leather lining and stitched along the edges with a complementing thread color.
“Suede”
Available in Several Colors
A classic top grain suede exterior leather. This leather is thin and supple. Suede Leathers backed with a leather lining and stitched along the edges with a complementing thread color
“Hair” or “Pony Hair Leather”
Available in Many Bright and Subtle Colors
This is a calf-hair leather dyed in many colors and patterns. All patterns are dyed and not original (eg “zebra” hair is dyed in this pattern). This leather provides a very real 3-dimensional tactile experience. Hair Leathers are backed with a leather lining and stitched along the edges with a complementing thread color.
“Met” or “Metallic Leathers”
Available in Many Bright & Shiny Colors
Metallic leathers are calf or lamb leather topped with a fine metallic foil. Many bright colors are possible via this method. This leather is very resistant to sun damage. Metallic Leathers are backed with a leather lining and stitched along the edges with a complementing thread color.
“PM” or “Pearlized Metallic Leathers”
Available in Many Subtle & Glimmering Colors
Dyed calf or lamb leather with a subtle pearlized topcoat finish. This provides a subtle shimmer accompanying the natural leather color. Pearlized Metallic Leathers are backed with a leather lining and stitched along the edges with a complementing thread color.
“VC” or “Vista Crinkled Metallic Leathers”
Available in Several Bright & Shiny Colors
A three dimensional landscape of metallic crinkled foil top a supple calf leather. Subtle and yet loud catching the light at every angle. Vista Crinkled Metallic Leathers are backed with a leather lining and stitched along the edges with a complementing thread color.
“PL” or “Patent Leathers”
Available in Many Bright & Bold Colors
A variety of classic patent leathers that are known to school children everywhere. Somewhat stiff at first but “breaks-in” over time. Patent Leathers are backed with a leather lining and stitched along the edges with a complementing thread color.
“Embossed” or “Embossed Reptile Leathers”
Available in Matte Black & Brown and Shiny Black & Brown
Fantastic imitation reptile leather. Offered in both “Brilliant” Black & Brown and “Matte” Black versions for Embossed Croc. Embossed Lizard only available in Matte Black & Brown. The “Brilliant” version most closely resembles the imitated exotic leathers. These leathers are backed with a leather lining and stitched along the edges with a complementing thread color.
“Barr” or “Barrocco Leathers”
Available in Several Colors
Barrocco leather is a fantastic middle ground between shiny and matte color for your sandals. The suede base leather is topped with many thousands of tiny sequin-like colorful flecks that provide a slight shimmer when reflected. These flecks sit on top of dyed calfskin leather. Barrocco Leathers are backed with a leather lining and stitched along the edges with a complementing thread color.
“HW” or “Horween Leathers”
Very Limited Availability
We stock and have stocked some Horween leathers, but due to their changing offerings we do not promise a consistent supply of HW leathers.
“DL” or “Deerskin”
Available in Black
Deerskin is a soft, flexible, and delicate leather. It wears differently than our other leathers and may be slightly less durable in its untouched appearance than our other leathers. It should be noted that it may be considered an exotic leather in some cases. Deerskin Leather is backed with a leather lining and stitched along the edges with a complementing thread color.
“MB” or “Mirrow Buffalo Leather”
Limited Availability in Navy, Red, & Green
Mirrow Buffalo Leather is a fantastic, strong, and understated leather. A grain pattern that lies between NL and WY leathers, it allows for a durable wear and a sleek look. Mirrow Buffalo Leathers are backed with a leather lining and stitched along the edges with a complementing thread color.
